LADIES AUXILIARY 

TO THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS OF THE UNITED STATES 

                                                                                                          

JANUARY 2012

The Department of New York VFW and its Ladies Auxiliary will hold the Annual Spring Conference and Gold Chevron Ball at the Radisson Hotel, 125 Denison Parkway East, Corning, New York, from March 16 -18, 2012.

 

All room reservations are to be made directly with the Radisson Hotel by calling 607-962-5000.  The tax rate is 12%, so please have your Tax Exempt Forms available when you arrive at the hotel to check in: (Tax Form 119.5 and ST119.3). Room rates are $99 Single/Double; $105 Triple and $110 Quad.   The deadline for room reservations is February 18, 2012.  Check in time is 4:00 PM and check out is 1:00 PM.

 

Registration will be on Friday, March 16th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and again on Saturday morning, March 17th from 8:00 to 10:00 AM.  Advance registration is $4.00 and will be $5.00 at the Conference.  The deadline for advance registration is February 15, 2012.

 

There will be a tour of the Corning Museum of Glass on Friday at 12:30 PM.  The cost of the tour is $12 per person. You will have a chance to make your own glass ornament for an extra cost of  $10 - $30 depending on what you want to make.  All are welcome to attend. 

 

The Council of Administration Dinner (by invitation only) will be on Friday, March 16th starting at 6:00 PM.  The program chairmen will hold workshops from 6:00 -7:15 PM with the C of A Meeting commencing at 7:30 PM.  The ceremonial “Kissing of the Pig” and Buddy Poppy Fashionista will be held immediately following the C of A meeting.  Please be advised that there will be no cookie and punch reception at this conference.

 

On Saturday morning the chairmen will be available from 7:00 to 8:45 AM and the conference meeting will start promptly at 9:00 AM.  Uniforms are required.  There will be a Deli Luncheon at 12:00 Noon.  The cost of the luncheon is $23.00 per person and the deadline for reservations is March 9, 2012. (See Luncheon Reservation Form enclosed.)  The Gold Chevron Dinner will start at 7:00 PM.  Reservations for the Gold Chevron Ball should be made directly with the Department of New York VFW Adjutant, Art Koch (See reservation form enclosed.) 

 

We hope all of you will join us to welcome our National Chaplain Ann Panteleakos as our National Representative.  As we “Care Enough to Make a Difference” we will  “Step Up - Leave No Veteran Behind” and make this a Spring Conference we all will remember!

Spring Conference 2012

 

Advance Registration for Corning Museum of Glass Guided Tour

Cost: $12.00 per person

 

We will be having a guided tour of the Corning Museum of Glass on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.  We will board the bus at the Rockwell Museum between 12:30 and 1:00 PM.  The Rockwell Museum is on the corner next to the Radisson Hotel.

 

The cost is $12.00 per person and must be paid in advance.  Please make the check payable to the Dept. of NY LAVFW and earmark it “Tour”   Mail the check along with the form on the bottom of the page by March 2, 2012 to:  Jackie Herbert, PO Box 138, Campbell, NY  14821-0138.

 

The deadline for reservations is March 2, 2012.  The Corning Museum of Glass has requested a pre-count by this date so they can plan on how many tour guides, etc. they need to accommodate our group.

 

If you wish to “make your own glass ornament” you need to call  607-438-5000 to reserve a time for Friday, March 16, 2012.  The cost is an extra $10 - $30 depending on what size of ornament you choose.  This money is to be paid at the time of the event at the Glass Center.  It is a separate cost and is not to be included with the advance registration guided tour money, the deadline is also March 2, 2012.  Please note that making your own ornament takes approximately 40 minutes.
