Marlene Webster, Chairman
Dear Sisters,
What a team we have in the Department of New York. You not only reached the 91 percent level, you went above and beyond. The 2011 year-end result is 92.32 percent. You have proven you care and that you are in this game to win it for our Veterans. Included in that achievement are 373 new members and 302 reinstated members who will now benefit from our caring organization. You have shown "Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes" and I know you will continue to increase those numbers until we have reached the 100% as this game is not over until we have accomplished this goad. I AM SO PROUD OF ALL OF YOU AND I THANK YOU!
The "I will kiss a pig if we get 91% membership by the December deadline" promise made by our President Jane will take place at the Spring Conference on Friday night after the C of A meeting. So, this is your advance notice to begin making plans to be in attendance!!
Aide-de-Camp: As promised, the two ladies who have achieved this level so far are Jane Reape and Marlene Webster. It is not hard to do ladies; just keep a membership applications in your purse at all times and always try to manage to bring the conversation around to our Veterans and inquire if they have an eligible family member who they could join under. Just recently a woman was at my Post and was looking at the list of our Charter Members; she saw her grandfather's name on it. She was so touched to know that and said she stated to join and help out. so from there, the Quartermaster gave her a copy of his eligibility and she was on the list for approval for membership at our January meeting. Another way to reach the Aide-de-Camp level is through reinstatement.
To qualify as a reinstatement: If you have a member who is in arrears they may pay this year's dues and and be reinstated as a member. They will not, however, be a continuous member. If they want to be a continuous reinstated member they can pay up to 3 years dues, provided that is all they are behind. If in doubt, check with Marianne McLane, she will be happy to help you. Treasurers, please review your membership stats and pull out the names of those ladies who are eligible for reinstatement; contact them and let them know they can be reinstated by paying just one year's membership dues and they will be back on the TEAM FOR MEMBERSHIP. Aide-de-Camp can be 20 NEW AND/OR REINSTATED members...so I am looking forward to many more ladies joining the group.
I am requesting, and would greatly appreciate, if all District and County Council Presidents (where applicable) would contact your respective auxiliaries and work with them. As I was making calls to check on memberships and to see how we could help those struggling, I discovered that we have many new officers at the Auxiliary level who could use your mentoring and would certainly benefit from your knowledge and expertise that you have gained while going up through the chairs to the positions you currently hold. If we are to retain, no only our members, but our current officers, we need to offer our help and encouragement. We don't want them to become overwhelmed and discouraged. It is like everything new, once you learn it, it becomes easy. Let us make this a New Year's Resolution for our Department of New York LAVFW...I will be a mentor and work with my sisters to enable them to perform their duties effectively and in a timely manner.
WE just brought our "Little Engine That Could" over the hill and into the station with our 91% plus. On that train is all the equipment we need to finish the 100% game. So, whatever your sport is, get that equipment and play your hardest so that at the finish of your game your Auxiliary will have raced the final score of one hundred per cent. Be creative and have fun while we work to give our veterans the numbers they need to help improve the quality of life they so deserve. We, in New York, have met our goals of 70%, 85% and 91%. We proved we are up to the challenges....so 100%...here we come!
We have 86 auxiliaries at 100% and 77 auxiliaries that are 91% or better. I applaud your dedication and accomplishments for our Department of NY in meeting the membership challenges as we, "Care Enough to Make a Difference"
Loyally, Marlene Webster
